BREAKFORMS
This is a work of synthesis. The copper etchings which are the base of each image were made as re-creations of digital glitches in wrestling video games. I have reincorporated those glitches back into their drawn forms, sometimes fitting into place and sometimes sewing together. These are hybrid forms and spaces built of digital skin over ink and jaggies on scratches. It is an exercise in cohesion, a proposition asking the viewer how far they are willing to meet a new shape and recognize it. As well, how the violence of these compositions is defined and felt across different mediums.
Brad Fehr
Brad Fehr is an Edmonton-based visual artist who works in a variety of media. He explores the construction, manifestation, and implications of masculinity in the Anthropocene. Drawing on pop culture and historical sources, he appropriates contrasting material to advance his picture of masculinity in art and society. He holds a BFA from the University of Alberta.
